This section is a rating of various walkthroughs available on the net. Sites are given a rating out of five stars and are awarded more if they cater for all platforms or the PC (for some reason, most of the walkthroughs are written for the PSX).

Anyway, we are just a small group of spotty teenagers and early twenty year-olds with one adult thrown in. Therefore, it's hard work getting the walkthrough section done (we actually have to play one game in it's entirity each time we review a walkthrough) and any help (a Game Boy walk through would be good) would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to help us, please do a review of a walkthrough and send it to us here. If you give us your name we'll put it on the credits and if you give us your homesite address, we'll include a link to it (provided it's decent and nude raider free). Thanks a lot!

Tomb Raider

Stella's Tomb Raider 1 Walkthrough
This is probably the best walkthrough I've used yet. Each step in a small paragraph making it easy to keep your spot or find the part you are looking for, with the key words of the step highlighted in the .rtf file (eg. secret #1 or medpack in red letters). She tells you all of the secrets (I never knew about these and I've played this this game a lot). Download it.

Pros:

Cons:

Quite-quite cool.

Tomb Raider 2

Gamespot's Walkthrough
Normally most of the walkthroughs you'll find here are either Sinjin's or Stella's, but we thought it'd be a good idea to cover an instalment of another fairly popular set of walkthroughs available.

As a fair few people would know, Gamespot has a fairly large following and their walkthroughs are quite popular due to their "take what you need" style. The downside is that you have to be a Gamespot member to get these, but the signing on process is free, so there isn't too much to whinge about. Once you are signed on though, you simply look through their list (a fairly impressive on at that) and grab whatever you need, including Half-Life, Quake 3 etc.

Well I did have high hopes for this one but I was sadly underwhelmed. The inclusion of pictures is a nice touch, but in order to keep the file size down they are VERY low quality. I can make a guess as to what the pictures are, having played the game before, but a person who's playing for their first time may find them selves asking, "is that Lara running past a dragon or an offensively large Mars Bar being attacked by a giant inflatable banana?".

If you are after a walkthrough that doesn't give too much away when it comes to every little step, then this will probably please you. If on the other hand, you are stuck on a bit that is very easy, but you are stuck because you haven't noticed something, this will leave you with a bitter taste in your mouth (this is what I judge walkthroughs on anyway).

It doesn't go into great detail and I find it somewhat akin to a person telling you where their house is and saying, "over there!" instead of "left" or "right". The details it does go into are quite good but I find it lacking on a general whole.

Pros:

Cons:

AVERAGE.

Tomb Raider 3

Sinjin's Walkthrough
This walkthrough is sloppy around the edges and made mostly for Playstation users (yuck!) but it's halfway decent and worth checking out. Plus it has some great pictures on it (they take a long time to load though and some actual in-game shots would be useful). The layout of the text is confusing with no numbering system or bullets etc. so you will have to pick your way through whole sentences, which as you can guess is very confusing and easy to lose you place in.

Pros:

Cons:

Faults:

Too confusing in parts with no numbered steps or something equivalent. Given that you have to wait for so many pictures, some in-game shots to support the text would have been wise. A fairly average walkthrough, use it in conjunction with a second one. It's got some great Lara art though.

Gamer's Revolution
Generally this is is a good no-nonsense walkthrough, it's only bare bones but most people aren't after deep coverage. It does have the occasional place where they haven't fully explained themselves though and this leaves you needing another source of info. One such incident is an area in Antarctica, where they did not say what to do with the boilers and I had to search for a third walkthrough.

Pros:

Cons:

Faults:

Good but it could have been a little better, definitely worth a visit because it's pure text so you can just copy and paste into Notepad.

Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation

Stella's Walkthrough
This is one of the most major sites available on the net, which is a good thing because it's a very decent bit of work. You have the option of downloading pure text or a version with pictures, making it a great choice for both on or offline audiences. If you download the .rtf version (Wordpad), the keywords are written in colour and italics, making navigation a much easier task.

As for the writing of the walkthrough, the information is generally good but lacking detail in SOME areas (generally not though), leaving you to go to another walkthrough or asking someone on the net (Hint, hint. The FAQ needs filling up). For crucial areas there is a diagram drawn of which the walkthrough will constantly refer to, so keep two windows open whilst you play the game.

If you want a decent do-it-all walkthrough, you could certainly do a lot worse than this one. There is another fantastic one I used to go to but blow me down, I can't find it anymore! So unless I find it (it may not exist anymore), stick with this walkthrough for now, because it's probably the best you'll find.

Pros:

Cons:

Cool.

Tomb Raider: Chronicles

Tomb Raider: Chronicles FAQ by Credo
This walkthrough suffers from the same affliction as Sinjin's earlier ones, it hasn't got numbered steps. You have to constantly wander through the text and find a section that sounds familiar. The instructions aren't as confusing as Sinjin's but they still need a second thought. He does go into a lot of detail at the start for a game overview though which gets my thumbs up as far as effort goes. Actually Credo's gone to an awful lot of effort and I have to commend him for it. He has a section talking about characters, secrets and cheats and probably a few other sections that I can't remember too.

One major problem is that it's written for the PSX beta version because of its time of writing but he isn't biased in favour of Playstations. He just about always mentions the PC version and fixed bugs etc. and throws in the occasional Dreamcast comment too.

Pros:

Cons:

Faults:

Pretty good, but navigation is confusing and it's written for the PSX beta. He just about always explains himself properly and has gone to a lot of effort. The extra parts are good too.

Sinjin's Walkthrough
Sinjin has made a very decent product here. He has used the PC to his advantage and used small, in-game screenshots, making for an easy to understand and fairly comprehensive walkthrough. He has even modified the pictures with little numbers and arrows, so this has impressed me enormously. Although he hasn't got numbered steps, the paragraphs are nice and small with a picture in them making navigation nice and easy, so I won't mark him down for it. The page is still very graphics heavy for dial-up users, but anyone looking for a walkthrough probably wouldn't mind waiting. Both thumbs up!

Pros:

Cons:

Sinjin has really lifted his game here and made a very good product, I whole heartedly recommend it.
