The sexindustry has always been a majorly hard issue to get your head around. On one hand I feel that it should be banned as it expoits women. It puts out an image in which sex is in controll of men. Sex becomes becomes commodified not merely in the sense that it can be purchased, but also that one is dealing with a totally alienated being - one seperated from, and out of controll of, her body. Pornography is purchased sex and the implication for men is that women can be bought.
On the other hand these women should be free to do what they like, and if that's the thing they like why would I stop them by getting porn censored? After all censorship has been the single most widely used tool for 'protecting' women from birthcontrol, abortion, sexual satisfaction and non-heterosexual relationships.
No matter what point of view you agree with most, it's right to be angry at the way women are depicted in commercially available sex products. The sex industry may reflect the sexism that already exists, I think it contributes to this line of thinking as well. In Scandinavia experiments have been done that show a link between the viewing of a film with sexual violence and the will to do violence when the audience leaves. That is something that shouldn't be ignored easily. Porn isn't innocent male-fantasy. It's dangerous and degrading.
